You do not need to draw,
or to have made anything before
Solar has the materials, the tools and the guidance ready. You go through the whole process and take home exactly what you just made.
Ask about datesThose four hours run through the six stages below — the order a piece of stained glass is actually made in, from the drawing to the moment it hangs against the light. Two stages have no photograph yet, and this page leaves the space empty rather than borrowing one that does not fit.
- 01
Draw
Draw the cartoon, divide the colour fields, and plan the lead lines.
- 02
Cut
Cut each piece to the drawing. Every cut is a decision you cannot take back.
- 03
Grind
Grind the edges until the pieces sit tight against each other.
- 04
Foil
Wrap copper foil around each edge to give the solder something to hold.
- 05
Solder
Solder the loose pieces into one structure.
- 06
Finished
The piece leaves the bench and goes up against the light — which is when the colour really starts to live.
