What Solar knows about you
This page is written from what the website actually does, not from a template. Where Solar has not decided something, the page says it has not decided.
Three sources of data, and no more
1. Basic traffic figures
Solar has no traffic measurement switched on at the moment.
2. Google Analytics — only if you agree
If you agree, Solar also uses Google Analytics to understand which pages people read before sending an enquiry. This one does set a cookie, and Google is a third party.
Until you answer, or if you refuse, Google Analytics is still loaded but in its denied state: no cookie is placed on your machine. Said plainly so you know there is still a connection to a Google server even though nothing is stored.
3. What you send through the enquiry form
When you send an enquiry, Solar stores exactly what you filled in — your name, your phone number and the description of what you need — along with the country worked out from the connection. It sits in Solar's own database.
Solar uses it only to answer the request you sent. Never sold, never handed to anyone with a use of their own for it, never used for advertising.
How long Solar keeps an enquiry
An enquiry exists so that Solar can answer you. Long after that conversation has finished, your name and phone number serve no further purpose — but the shape of the request still does: which channel someone came through, what kind of work they wanted, in which season. So Solar neither keeps it whole nor deletes it all: the person is removed and the figures stay.
- 0 – 12 months
- Kept in full, so Solar can follow up and recognise a returning customer.
- 12 – 36 months
- Name, phone, email and the enquiry itself are deleted. What remains is the date, the kind of request, the budget and the channel — nobody recognisable.
- After 36 months
- Deleted outright.
This runs automatically. You do not have to wait for it — message Solar and it goes now.
Who else touches your data
Solar does not run its own servers. This site sits on rented infrastructure, so there are suppliers holding your data on Solar's behalf without any use of their own for it:
- Web infrastructure
- Where this page and the enquiry database actually sit. The supplier holds them; it does not read them or use them for anything of its own.
- Measurement
- Only if you agree. It sees the path you take between pages, not what you wrote — the form sends nothing to it.
- Notification email
- Sends your enquiry to Solar's inbox, so Solar can read it and reply. It goes through the same infrastructure above, with no further supplier involved, and stops at the mailbox Solar reads every day.
Beyond those three roles there is nobody. No advertising, no cross-site tracking, no data brokers. If you want the suppliers named, ask Solar and Solar will tell you.
What you can ask for
For anything you have sent Solar, you can ask for any of the following, without giving a reason:
- To see what Solar holds about you.
- To have anything wrong corrected.
- To withdraw consent you gave earlier.
- To have it deleted — deleted, rather than hidden.
Write to the email or phone number below, from the number you sent the enquiry with. Solar sees to it and writes back.
What you control
Your cookie choice is kept in your browser's own storage, not in a cookie — Solar does not need to set a cookie to remember that you refused cookies. Which means the choice never leaves your machine.
Two more things sit in the same place and stay on your machine too: a list of up to 12 pieces you have just looked at — so a piece page can offer back the ones you are comparing — and a random number that decides the order pieces appear in during this visit. Solar can read neither, and clearing your browser's site data clears them.
