Materials

  • Stained glass
  • Copper foil
  • Solder

The butterfly is only three pieces of pink glass and a brown body, seen side-on as if it has just landed. What it lands on is the rest of the piece: a ring of tin wire curled into filigree, soldered to its body, with three strands of clear stones hanging from the ring. The butterfly is light, but the whole ring hangs from it — so the joint at the body is the one that carries the load.
