The heart of this piece is a round mirror, and a wave curls up across its lower half. The two crests are dark blue glass with a glittering sheen, catching the light like water in the sun; beneath them, layers of pale turquoise, milky white, amber and grained turquoise curve into one another like water rolling in. The foot of the wave does not stop at the rim: a band of grey-blue spills out to the left and a band of sand colour to the right, so the outline of the piece is the shape of the wave rather than a circle.
